Natural stone garden tables
Stone garden table: why natural stone
A natural stone top is heavy, cool to the touch and real: not a print, but rock with veins and grains that differ from top to top. The natural stone in this collection is granite, a volcanic rock and one of the hardest materials there is. Bluestone, limestone or marble are not part of it.
Quick guide
- You want real stone and a top nobody else has: granite.
- You want a stone look without sealing: ceramic.
- You want to know everything about the granite types: granite garden tables.
Which natural stone: granite in four types
- Steel Grey leather: grey, with a leather finish.
- Coffee Brown leather: dark brown, with a leather finish.
- Tan Brown polished: brown, glossy.
- Nero Assoluto honed: black, matt.
The top is 30 mm thick and can be up to 2400 × 1000 mm. Polished granite is glossy; honed granite is matt.
Natural stone or ceramic for outdoors?
Choose granite if you want the pattern of real stone and accept the upkeep. Choose ceramic if you want a top you never need to treat, where a hot pan can go down without a trivet.
Ceramic comes in 29 colours and also in a round shape. Granite comes in four types, and every top is different.
Shape and size of a stone garden table
A granite top comes rectangular, oval, Danish oval or as a rectangle with semicircular ends. A round top is only available in ceramic.
Allow 700 to 750 mm of table edge per person and at least 800 mm of free space around it. Three chairs along one long side need 2100 to 2250 mm; at the maximum length of 2400 mm, three fit on each long side.
Frame: steel or stainless steel
Under the top you choose a frame in steel or stainless steel, both welded in Maasbree. Steel with outdoor primer and stainless steel are equally suitable outdoors; the choice is about looks.
Want colour? Take steel in one of 10 standard colours.
Prefer brushed silver? Take stainless steel.
Caring for a natural stone garden table
- Sealing: after delivery, then again every two to three years.
- Cleaning: with a pH-neutral cleaner. No vinegar or lemon, as they attack the stone.
- Heat: use a trivet. A hot pan can crack the stone through thermal shock.
