Table bases
Steel or stainless steel: which table legs?
Both are strong enough for a dining table and both can stand outside. The choice is about looks: colour or brushed metal.
Want black, white, grey or bronze? Choose steel table legs. Want the sheen of metal without a coat of paint? Choose stainless steel table legs.
Powder-coated steel
Steel frames are welded in the workshop in Maasbree, the Netherlands, and then powder coated with a fine texture. That coating is 3 to 5 times thicker than wet paint. The steel base is available in 10 standard colours: 8 RAL colours (9010, 9001, 7044, 7023, 7016, 7021, 9011, 9005) and 2 anodised finishes (Anodic Bronze, Anodic Brown).
The drawback: powder coating is a layer of paint that could, in theory, be damaged by a heavy impact.
Stainless steel 304
Stainless steel 304 (18/8) is naturally corrosion resistant and needs no coating. The standard finish is brushed; stainless steel can optionally be powder coated in a RAL colour.
The drawback: fingerprints show, although they are easy to remove.
Models
Each model is a complete base named after a city, such as Amsterdam, Brussel, Dublin, Helsinki or Sydney. Geneve, Lissabon, Praag and Riga come in a round and a rectangular version. Riga comes in two profile sizes: 80 × 40 mm looks slimmer, 80 × 80 mm sturdier.
The configurator shows which bases suit your top shape and size, and what they cost.
Table legs under your own top
If you already have a table top, the base is made to fit it. Give the length, width or diameter and the material of the top, because a ceramic top is heavy. If in doubt, send photos and measurements of your top.
- Standard table height: 760 mm, including the top.
- Allow 700 to 750 mm of table edge per person.
- Keep at least 800 mm of free space around the table.
No top yet? Choose one under table tops, or see complete dining tables where top and base are already matched.
Base for outdoors
A steel base can stand outside with an outdoor primer: the frame then gets an extra primer coat under the powder coating. Steel with primer and stainless steel are equally suitable outdoors; the choice is about looks.
Combine an outdoor base with a top that can go outside too, such as ceramic. Complete outdoor tables are under garden tables.
Care
Wipe a powder-coated frame with a damp cloth, without abrasives. Wipe fingerprints off stainless steel with a cloth in the direction of the brushing. A stainless steel cleaner is under maintenance.
