Building a modular sofa
A modular sofa is built from separate elements. You choose seat sections from 1 to 3.5 seats, with an arm on the left, the right or no arms, and add a chaise longue, a square or rounded corner, an open end unit or a footstool. The same sofa can become a compact two-seater or a generous corner layout.

Corner sofa or straight sofa?
A corner sofa gives the most seats per metre of wall and creates a cosy corner. It does fix your layout: if you move house or rearrange the room, a corner will not fit everywhere.
A straight sofa is more flexible and leaves more floor free. If you still want to put your feet up, add a chaise longue on one side.
Measure before you choose
For a corner sofa, measure the space along both walls and decide which side the chaise or corner goes. Allow for doors, radiators, walkways and the coffee table. Always compare the total size of your layout; the width of a single section tells you little.
Choosing fabric and colour
You configure every sofa in an upholstery fabric from a large collection. With children or pets, a dark or mottled fabric is more forgiving than a light, plain one. Unsure about the colour? Seat depth, back and armrest are best judged by sitting. The Shadow sofa is in the showroom in Maasbree, the Netherlands, which is also open on Saturdays. Bring the measurements and a photo of your living room. For another model, ask in advance what is on display.
A dining bench at your table
At the table, a dining bench such as the Simba is an alternative to separate chairs. It seats more people per metre and looks calmer. The drawback: whoever sits in the middle has a harder time getting out, and a bench does not slide as easily as a chair.
