Which coffee table suits you?

Choose the material first, then the shape and size. The material decides how much you can put on the table without thinking twice.

Ceramic coffee table

Ceramic is sintered at extremely high temperature: hard, non-porous and resistant to heat, scratches and stains. A hot teapot or a wet mug leaves no ring. The top is UV-stable, so it does not fade by the window.

• Cube: square, 700 × 700 mm and 450 mm high, with an 8 mm top.
• Round: ø 600 mm, 450 mm high.
• Side table: ø 400 mm, 460 mm high, with a 20 mm top. Fits beside an armchair or at the end of the sofa.

The downside: ceramic is heavy and the edge is sensitive to a hard knock, such as a dropped glass or a kick with a heel.

Oak coffee table

The oak coffee table is rectangular, 1200 × 800 mm and 450 mm high. European oak has honey to golden brown tones and a distinctive open grain, and grows warmer in colour over the years. Wood is more sensitive to heat and moisture than ceramic; use a coaster. With an oak dining table in the same room, the two work well together.

Venezia coffee table set

The Venezia sets consist of two round tables of ø 900 and ø 550 mm. Place them together in front of the sofa or use the small one on its own as a side table. There are two tones: Calacatta (light with veining) and Marquina (dark with veining).

What size coffee table?

• Height: the coffee tables here are 380 to 470 mm high.
• Length: a rule of thumb is no more than two thirds of your sofa's length.
• Distance: keep 350 to 400 mm between sofa and table, so you can stand up and walk past easily.
• Corner sofa: a round or square table can be reached from both sides.

Care

Clean ceramic with a damp cloth; oiling or sealing is not needed. Wipe oak with a slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards. More tips on the care page.
