Custom oak dining table: the ultimate guide

Everything you need to know about custom oak dining tables: from wood selection to finishing. Discover the options at Tulmans Meubelen.

Why oak for a dining table?

Oak is strong, durable and gains character over the years. A solid oak dining table lasts decades under normal use, and looks slightly different every year as the grain deepens and the colour matures. That liveliness is the point.

Solid oak, not veneer

At Tulmans we work with solid oak, not veneer or particleboard with a thin layer of wood on top. You feel the difference in weight and in the structure of the wood.

What can you configure?

In our 3D configurator you compose your oak dining table:

  • Dimensions: to the centimetre
  • Shape: rectangular, round, oval or Danish oval
  • Top thickness: 40 mm
  • Finish: various stain colours, sealed with two coats of clear lacquer
  • Base: steel or stainless steel in several designs

You see the result in 3D and the price updates live. Order free samples to judge the stain at home — screen colours always differ.

Maintenance

Our oak tops are finished with stain and two coats of clear lacquer, which protects against stains and moisture. A damp cloth and a mild soap if needed are enough for day-to-day cleaning. Do not put hot pans directly on the top — lacquer has its limits.
