Granite outdoor tables are among the most durable garden tables you can buy. Granite is one of the few natural stone types suitable for prolonged outdoor use. A granite outdoor table is frost-proof and UV-resistant. The slab is 30 mm thick and is delivered sealed as standard. Each granite slab has its own pattern of crystals and minerals that differs per piece.

Is granite suitable for your patio?

Granite for outdoor use: frost-proof and UV-resistant

Granite is formed deep in the earth's crust under high pressure and temperature. This origin makes the material naturally hard and dense. The low porosity ensures moisture barely penetrates the slab, even during frost.

UV radiation has no effect on the colour of granite. Where plastic yellows and teak greys after a summer, granite retains its original colour and texture. Always use trivets for hot dishes from the barbecue. The large temperature difference can cause thermal shock, which may crack the slab.

Four granite varieties for your outdoor table

Four granite varieties are available, each with its own colour and surface finish. The difference in colour and texture is difficult to assess from photos. Order material samples to compare the materials at home on your patio.

Steel Grey Leather is the most restrained variant. The surface is a calm grey with a leather texture. Steel Grey suits modern, sleek patios with grey paving or concrete elements.

Coffee Brown Leather offers warm brown tones with the same leather texture as Steel Grey. The brown tint combines well with wooden deck flooring, rattan furniture and warm earth tones in the garden.

Tan Brown Polished has a deep, dark pattern with a glossy surface. The polishing brings the crystal structure to the fore. This is the most pronounced variant, which works well on covered patios where the surface stays dry.

Nero Assoluto Honed is virtually black with a subtly matte finish. The honed surface shows fewer fingerprints and water droplets than a polished surface, making it particularly suitable for outdoor use.

Granite or ceramic for outdoor use?

Both materials are frost-proof and UV-resistant. The main difference lies in maintenance, size and appearance.

Ceramic is fully maintenance-free. The slab does not need to be sealed, oiled or treated. Spills, rain and bird droppings wipe off with a damp cloth. Ceramic is available in 28 decors, and the maximum size is 3200x1600 mm.

Granite needs periodic sealing to keep the surface stain-resistant. Granite offers in return something ceramic cannot: a surface that differs per slab. At 30 mm thick, granite also looks more solid than the 12 mm ceramic.

Choose granite if you want an outdoor table with its own pattern and solid appearance. Use trivets for hot barbecue dishes. Choose ceramic if maintenance-free is the priority and you want more choice in colours and sizes.

Outdoor base: steel with primer or stainless steel

Powder-coated steel with outdoor primer is available in 19 models and 10 RAL colours. With application "outdoor", the frame automatically receives an extra primer base coat beneath the colour coating. With this treatment, the steel frame is suitable for year-round outdoor use, just like stainless steel.

Brushed 304-grade stainless steel is the alternative without colour choice. Stainless steel does not corrode, even with prolonged contact with rain, snow or sea air. There are 9 models available in the stainless steel collection.

Steel or stainless steel: the quick choice

Both steel with outdoor primer and stainless steel are suitable for year-round outdoor use. Steel offers 10 RAL colours, stainless steel has a silver appearance. The choice is purely aesthetic.

Sizes and shapes for the garden

The maximum size for a granite outdoor table is 2400x1000 mm. That is sufficient for a table for six people. Allow at least 60 cm per person along the long side and at least 80 cm walking space around the table.

  • 4 people: from 160x90 cm
  • 6 people: from 200x100 cm (max for granite: 240x100 cm)

Need a larger table, for example for eight people? Then ceramic is the alternative, with a maximum size of 3200x1600 mm.

Available shapes: rectangle, oval, round, Danish oval, Racetrack and rectangle with radius.

Frequently asked questions

Is a granite garden table frost-resistant?
Yes. Granite is naturally frost-resistant thanks to its low porosity. The material barely absorbs moisture, so it will not crack or split at freezing temperatures. The top can stay outside all year round.
How often should I impregnate a granite garden table?
For a table that stays outside unprotected all year, we recommend impregnating once a year. For a table under a cover or veranda, once every two years is enough. The top is supplied pre-impregnated as standard.
Which types of granite are available for garden tables?
There are four options: Steel Grey Leather (grey, matt leathered texture), Coffee Brown Leather (warm brown, leathered texture), Tan Brown Polished (dark, glossy) and Nero Assoluto Honed (black, subtly matt). All types are 30 mm thick.
What is the maximum size of a granite garden table?
The maximum size for a granite top is 2400 x 1000 mm. That is large enough for a table seating six. Need something bigger? Then choose ceramic, which is available up to 3200 x 1600 mm.
Which frame is best for a granite garden table?
Both powder-coated steel with an outdoor primer and brushed stainless steel are suitable for year-round outdoor use. Steel is available in 10 RAL colours; stainless steel has a silver finish. The choice is purely an aesthetic preference.
What is the difference between a granite and a ceramic garden table?
Granite is 30 mm thick, has a pattern that varies per slab and needs periodic impregnation. Ceramic is 12 mm thick, available in 28 decors, completely maintenance-free and supplied up to 3200 x 1600 mm. Both are frost-resistant and UV-stable. Ceramic is also heat-resistant; with granite, you need coasters for hot pans.
Can I place a hot pan on a granite garden table?
No. Never place a hot pan or roasting dish directly on a granite top. The sudden temperature change can cause thermal shock and may crack the slab. Always use coasters or trivets.
Where does the granite garden table get delivered?
We deliver throughout the Netherlands, Belgium and North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany). The table arrives fully assembled at your door. Delivery time is 1 to 4 weeks.
