If you are looking for a natural stone outdoor table, you are choosing a garden table shaped by nature itself. In the Tulmans range, all natural stone is granite: an igneous rock formed millions of years ago under high pressure and temperature. Each slab has its own pattern of crystals and minerals, making every table a one-of-a-kind piece.

Natural stone = granite in this range

All natural stone outdoor tables consist of granite. No marble, travertine or slate is available. Granite is chosen for the frost resistance, UV resistance and wear resistance needed for outdoor use. Read more about the four varieties on the granite outdoor tables page.

Why natural stone as an outdoor table

Natural stone offers properties that make the material ideally suited for outdoor use. Granite is frost-proof: it absorbs virtually no moisture, so it does not crack when it freezes. UV radiation has no effect on the colour; the slab does not discolour, even after years in full sun.

The material is scratch-resistant. Cutlery, crockery and garden accessories leave no marks on the surface. With a thickness of 30 mm, the table feels sturdy and solid. The weight provides stability on the patio, even in windy conditions.

Use trivets for hot barbecue dishes. Granite is not heat-resistant: the large temperature difference can cause thermal shock.

Four granite varieties

Steel Grey Leather: calm grey with leather texture. Suits modern patios. Coffee Brown Leather: warm brown tones. Combines well with wooden deck flooring and natural gardens. Tan Brown Polished: deep, dark pattern, glossy. The most pronounced variant. Nero Assoluto Honed: virtually black, matte. Shows fewer water droplets and fingerprints.

Natural stone or ceramic for outdoor use?

Both are frost-proof and UV-resistant. Ceramic is fully maintenance-free with 27 colours and up to 3200x1600 mm. Granite needs periodic sealing but offers a distinctive pattern per slab and a heavier, more solid appearance at 30 mm thick.

Frequently asked questions

Is all the natural stone in the collection granite?
Yes. Every natural stone garden table we offer is made from granite. We do not stock marble, travertine or slate. Granite was chosen because it combines the frost-resistance, UV-stability and scratch-resistance needed for outdoor use.
Which types of granite are available for a garden table?
There are four options: Steel Grey Leather (grey, matt leathered texture), Coffee Brown Leather (warm brown, matt leathered texture), Tan Brown Polished (dark brown, glossy) and Nero Assoluto Honed (black, softly matt). All four are frost-resistant and UV-stable.
Can a natural stone garden table stay outside all year?
Yes. Granite is frost-resistant and UV-stable. The top can stay outside unprotected all year round without cracking or fading. Both steel with an outdoor primer and stainless steel are suitable for year-round outdoor use. The choice is an aesthetic preference: steel offers 10 RAL colours, while stainless steel has a silver finish.
What maintenance does a natural stone garden table need?
Granite needs periodic impregnation, as a rule of thumb once a year. The top is supplied pre-impregnated as standard. Day-to-day care is simple: wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid acidic cleaners such as lemon juice or vinegar.
What is the maximum size of a natural stone garden table?
The maximum size is 2400 x 1000 mm, enough for a table seating six. Need something larger? Then a ceramic garden table is the alternative, available up to 3200 x 1600 mm.
Steel or stainless steel frame for a natural stone garden table?
Both powder-coated steel with an outdoor primer and brushed stainless steel are suitable for year-round outdoor use. Steel offers 10 RAL colours, stainless steel has a silver finish. The choice is purely an aesthetic preference, not a functional one.
What is the difference between a natural stone and a ceramic garden table?
Natural stone (granite) has a pattern that varies per slab, but is not heat-resistant (use coasters) and needs periodic impregnation. Ceramic is completely maintenance-free, heat-resistant, available in 28 decors and supplied in larger sizes (up to 3200 x 1600 mm).
