American walnut (Juglans nigra) has a naturally rich colour ranging from purple-brown to dark chocolate. The fine, closed grain gives the surface a smooth, refined feel that sets it apart from the more pronounced grain of oak. Each top is distinctive: the colour variation between heartwood and sapwood creates natural contrasts within the slab.
The top is 40 mm thick, finished with clear 2K matte lacquer that protects the wood while letting the natural colour fully show. Over the years, walnut lightens slightly, developing warmer, honey-like tones.

The 2K lacquer finish makes maintenance simple. Daily: wipe with a damp cloth. Use trivets for hot pans. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. The top can be sanded and re-lacquered after years of use. See the care page for detailed instructions.
