Looking for a dining table with character that nobody else has? A granite dining table is made of natural stone, formed deep in the earth's crust under high pressure and temperature. The pattern of crystals and minerals differs per slab. No two granite tables are the same.

Is granite the right choice for you?

Yes, if you want a table with a pattern that differs per slab. Yes, if you value scratch resistance. Unsure? Compare with ceramic or oak.

Granite as a table top: four varieties

Four granite varieties are available, each with its own colour and finish.

Steel Grey Leather has a calm, grey surface with a leather texture. The matte finish gives the top a restrained appearance. Suits modern and industrial interiors.

Coffee Brown Leather offers warm brown tones with the same leather texture. The brown tint pairs well with wooden furniture and warm earth tones.

Tan Brown Polished shows a deep, dark pattern with a glossy surface. The polishing brings the crystal structure to the fore. This is the most pronounced variant.

Nero Assoluto Honed is virtually black with a subtly matte finish. The honed finish feels soft and shows fewer fingerprints. Suits sleek, dark interiors.

Granite dining table: properties

Granite is one of the hardest natural stone types. Knives, cutlery and crockery do not leave scratches. Only diamond and comparable materials can damage granite.

Use trivets for hot pans. Granite can crack from thermal shock (hot pan on cold slab). This is an important difference from ceramic, which is heat-resistant.

Each granite slab is 30 mm thick. The maximum size is 2400x1000 mm. That is smaller than ceramic (3200x1600 mm) or oak (3000x1200 mm), but sufficient for dining tables up to six people.

Choose granite if you want a table where each slab is different and you value scratch resistance. Choose ceramic if maintenance-free is the priority. Choose wood if you seek warmth and colour choice.

Configuring your custom granite dining table

In the 3D configurator you design your granite dining table. Choose granite variety, dimensions and base. You see the result in 3D immediately.

Available shapes: rectangle, oval, round, Danish oval, Racetrack and rectangle with radius. Choose the edge finish separately: straight or 60 degrees.

Which base for granite?

A granite slab is heavier than ceramic or wood. The base is matched to the weight. Both base types are suitable.

Steel bases: 19 models in 10 RAL colours. Matte black under Nero Assoluto gives a monochrome effect. Anodic Bronze under Coffee Brown enhances the warm tint.

Stainless steel bases: brushed stainless steel gives a sleek contrast with the heavy granite. Especially with Steel Grey this is a strong combination.

All bases are welded in the workshop in Maasbree, Netherlands. View all table bases for the overview.

Which colour combination works?

Nero Assoluto + black steel = monochrome. Steel Grey + stainless steel = tone-on-tone. Coffee Brown + Anodic Bronze = warm. In the configurator you see every combination in 3D.

Granite dining table for outdoor use?

Granite is frost-proof and UV-resistant. The slab itself can stand outdoors. Both steel with outdoor primer and stainless steel are suitable for year-round outdoor use. In the configurator, select application "outdoor" for automatic primer on steel. The choice between steel and stainless steel is aesthetic: steel offers 10 RAL colours, stainless steel has a silver appearance. View granite outdoor tables for outdoor configurations.

Maintenance: sealing and cleaning

Granite requires periodic sealing. Sealing fills the pores, reducing how quickly liquids are absorbed. The slab is delivered sealed as standard.

Daily maintenance: clean with a damp cloth. Avoid acidic cleaning products (lemon, vinegar) that can attack the surface. With intensive use, annual sealing is recommended. See the care page for instructions.

Difference from ceramic regarding maintenance

Ceramic is fully maintenance-free. Granite offers in return a pattern that differs per slab.

What size granite dining table?

Allow at least 60 cm per person along the long side.

  • 4 people: from 160x90 cm
  • 6 people: from 200x100 cm (max 2400x1000 mm)

Need a larger table? Choose ceramic (up to 3200x1600 mm) or oak (up to 3000x1200 mm).

Frequently asked questions

Which granite varieties are available?
There are four varieties: Steel Grey Leather (grey, matte leather texture), Coffee Brown Leather (warm brown, leather texture), Tan Brown Polished (dark, glossy) and Nero Assoluto Honed (black, matte finish). Each variety has its own colour and finish.
Does a granite table top need to be sealed?
Yes. The top is supplied sealed as standard. Re-sealing periodically (annually with intensive use) protects the surface against stains. The process is straightforward and takes about fifteen minutes.
What is the difference between granite and ceramic?
Granite is natural stone with a pattern that is different on every slab, and it needs periodic sealing. Ceramic is industrially produced, fully maintenance-free and available in more colours (28 vs 4). Both are scratch-resistant. Ceramic is also heat-resistant; granite is not (risk of thermal shock).
How large can a granite dining table be?
The maximum top size is 2400x1000 mm, which suits dining tables for up to six people. Need a larger table? Choose ceramic (up to 3200x1600 mm) or oak (up to 3000x1200 mm) instead.
Can a granite dining table be used outside?
Granite is frost-resistant and UV-resistant, so the top can be left outside. Both steel with outdoor primer and stainless steel are suitable for year-round outdoor use. Steel comes in 10 RAL colours, while stainless steel has a silver-toned look. The choice between them is aesthetic.
How heavy is a granite dining table?
A granite top is heavier than ceramic or wood. The base is matched to the weight in our own workshop. On delivery, the table is placed in the spot you choose inside your home.
Can I place a hot pan directly on granite?
No. A hot pan can cause thermal shock, which may crack the top. Always use trivets for hot pans and dishes.
