Custom Wood Table Top - Oak or Walnut

All standalone table tops are produced to the centimetre in the workshop in Maasbree, Netherlands, from 40 mm thick solid wood.

Oak table top made to measure

European oak is the most versatile choice for a wood table top. The top is stained to colour in one of 19 stain colours, from light Natural to deep Black, and then protected with two coats of matte 2K lacquer. This allows you to match the colour to your interior: complementing the floor, kitchen or existing furniture.

An oak table top has a visible grain with subtle knots and natural characteristics. Each top is distinctive. The tops are assembled from oak lamellae, dried to 8-12% moisture content, sanded flat and finished. Optionally you can have the top brushed for extra texture.

Walnut table top made to measure

Looking for a dark, warm top without staining or colouring? American walnut (Juglans nigra) has a naturally rich chocolate-brown colour that requires no stain treatment. The top is finished with clear 2K lacquer, so the natural colour comes through fully.

A walnut table top is distinguished by its fine, closed grain. Unlike oak, which has coarse pores and a pronounced grain pattern, the surface of walnut is smooth and sleek. The heartwood varies from purple-brown to dark chocolate, while the sapwood is slightly lighter.

Oak vs walnut: which wood table top?

In short: oak offers the most freedom thanks to 19 stain colours and a larger maximum size. Walnut does not need those colour options: the dark brown colour with subtle purple glow is a statement on its own. Unsure? Wood excels in warmth and atmosphere. It feels pleasant, dampens sound and fits virtually any interior. Ceramic is scratch-proof, heat-resistant and stain-repellent. Applications for a standalone wood table top

Dining table. The most common application. A wood top on an existing or new base forms the centrepiece of your dining room.

Sideboard or side table. A solid wood top gives a sideboard a robust, high-quality appearance.

Coffee table. Even on a smaller scale, solid wood comes into its own. The 2K lacquer finish protects against coffee cup and glass stains.

Every wood table top is produced to measure in the workshop in Maasbree, Netherlands. Lead time is 1 to 4 weeks. The delivery area covers the Netherlands, Belgium and North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).
