A new table top can give your furniture a completely different look. Whether you want to replace a worn top, add a solid surface to a sideboard or need a custom window sill: a custom oak table top brings warmth and character to any room.
Tulmans delivers standalone oak table tops in solid European oak, produced to the centimetre in our workshop in Maasbree, Netherlands. With 19 stain colours and a durable 2K lacquer finish, you choose exactly the look that suits your interior.
European oak has been one of the most valued wood species for furniture for centuries. The combination of hardness, stability and a pronounced grain pattern makes it ideally suited as a table top. The open grain gives each top its own character, as no two oak table tops are identical.
European oak is moderately hard and can scratch under heavy impact; normal household wear will not damage the top. In practice, this means the top withstands daily use well. Crockery, cutlery and decorations do not easily leave marks on the lacquered surface.
The combination of stain and 2K matte lacquer provides good protection against moisture and stains. The 40 mm thickness gives the top a robust, solid appearance. This is thicker than many standard table tops, contributing to quality and longevity.
The top is sandable for refinishing: should the surface need refreshing after years of intensive use, it can be sanded down and re-finished. This way your oak table top lasts for generations.
The greatest strength of a custom oak table top is the freedom of colour choice. Each top is stained to colour and then finished with two coats of matte 2K lacquer. This combination protects the wood and provides a professional, satin-matte finish that repels stains and moisture.
The range includes 19 stain colours, from light natural tones to dark, warm wood accents. Examples: a light Scandinavian tint for a modern interior, a warm honey tone for a country-style atmosphere, or a dark walnut tint for a classic, stately appearance. The stain penetrates the wood and leaves the grain pattern fully visible, unlike opaque paint.
Unsure about the colour? Order a colour sample and assess the tint at home in your own lighting conditions. Daylight, artificial light and the colour of your floor and walls all influence how the stain appears.
A standalone oak table top is more versatile than many people think. The most common application is as a dining table top, but oak is equally suitable for other furniture and surfaces in the home.
Dining table. An oak top on an existing or new base forms a full dining table. The combination of warmth, hardness and the protective lacquer layer makes oak particularly suited for daily use at the dining table.
Sideboard or side table. An oak top on a sideboard gives a warm, natural appearance. The maximum size of 3000 x 1200 mm provides space for virtually any sideboard format.
Side table. Oak also works well on a smaller scale. A side table with an oak top next to the sofa is a stylish and practical addition to your living room.
Window sill. Oak is suitable as an indoor window sill thanks to the 40 mm thickness and protective lacquer layer. Note: oak is intended exclusively for indoor use. For an outdoor window sill, ceramic is a more suitable choice.
Every oak table top is manufactured to measure in our workshop. You choose the exact length and width, up to a maximum of 3000 x 1200 mm. Whether you need a narrow console of 400 x 1200 mm or a large dining table top of 2800 x 1000 mm: everything is possible.
The standard thickness is 40 mm. This gives the top a solid, crafted appearance and contributes to stability. A thicker top is less susceptible to sagging at larger dimensions.

This is the most common reason to order a standalone table top. Your base is still in good condition, but the top is worn, damaged or no longer to your taste. A new oak top gives your table a second life at a fraction of the cost of a completely new piece of furniture.
Thanks to the custom sizing options, the top fits on virtually any existing base. In the 3D configurator you enter the exact dimensions and choose your stain colour.
Do not have a base yet? You can combine the oak table top with a standalone table base from our collection. Oak pairs particularly well with both steel bases for an industrial accent and stainless steel bases for a sleek, modern look.
In the 3D configurator you combine top and base and see immediately how the whole looks.
An oak table top with 2K lacquer finish is simple to maintain. Daily maintenance consists of wiping with a damp cloth. The lacquer layer protects the wood against moisture, stains and dirt.
The great advantage of solid oak is that the top can be sanded again. Should the surface show wear marks after years of use, a craftsperson can sand the top and re-finish it. More information on our care page.
Every oak table top is manufactured to order. Lead time is 1 to 4 weeks, depending on workshop capacity. Delivery is available throughout the Netherlands, Belgium and North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).
